Why Do Most Diets Fail?

image Most Diets Fail ?

Losing weight is hard and keeping it off is even more difficult. Discipline, willing, cut eating or motivation are all important in diet but these factors are not enough.

There are different kinds of diets. However, 95% of all attempts to lose weight inevitably fail because of body and brain chemistry, set point, and environment. "Failing" means to be successfull at losing weight, but not to be able to keep it off more than one year.

According to the set point theory, if you go on a diet mostly your brain will think that you are starving and it will effort to keep your body at a certain weight. If you fall below it, your body will store fat, take in new fat, and multiply to get what was lost. It means your hunger might increase while your energy expenditures decreasing and while your metabolism is slowing down. This situation comes out especially when you lose weight too quickly.

Environment is another factor which pushes you to eat.  The smell of freshly baked bread, the amount of food on your plate, your friends or family eating ice cream etc are all trigger your desire to eat.

Your bodies and your brain do what they learned through life. Your diet should re-educate your eating habits including exercising and avoiding emotional eating. A lot of people overeat when they are angry, sad and in a stressful situation or they have salt without even tasting the meal. You should train yourself according to the rules of your diet.

You have to be patient and consistent. Do not set your goals too high. Crash diets are deceptive. Even if, they make you lose weight, after a while you may regain your weight. Therefore, you should find the right diet which encourages weight loss slowly over time.
